What is collagen?

Collagen is an important structural protein in the body, making up approximately 30% of its total protein mass. It plays an essential role in maintaining the firmness, elasticity, and structure of, among other things, the skin, joints, and connective tissue.

As we age, the natural production of collagen decreases. This process begins around the age of 25 and continues gradually. As a result, the skin may feel less firm and its elasticity may decrease. Supplementing with collagen can therefore be a valuable addition to a conscious lifestyle.

Type of collagen

There are different types of collagen, of which types 1, 2, and 3 are the most well-known. Type 1 is by far the most common type in the body, making up approximately 90% of the total collagen supply.
