About Reishi

Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum) is a woody mushroom that grows on deciduous trees. Reishi holds a special place in traditional Chinese teachings, and interest is also growing in the West.

Because Reishi is tough and woody, it used to be mainly boiled into tea. Foodsporen turns it into a concentrated extract using water, alcohol and ultrasonic extraction, preserving valuable compounds such as polysaccharides and triterpenes.

What makes Reishi so special is that its fruiting bodies (the visible part of the mushroom) are packed with valuable substances, such as polysaccharides and antioxidants. These substances have been used for centuries to support the body and promote a sense of calm and vitality.

In its natural form, reishi is rock-hard and tough; you can't simply eat or chew it. Therefore, in the past, it was usually boiled into a tea. Fortunately, there are now more modern and effective ways to extract the valuable nutrients from reishi.

That's why Reishi is processed into a liquid extract. A special three-step extraction process is used. It sounds technical, but it essentially boils down to this: using water, alcohol, and modern sound waves (ultrasonic extraction), the mushroom's cell walls are broken open, releasing all the vital nutrients.

The result is a potent and pure extract, containing the active ingredients in a much higher concentration than the raw mushroom itself. Reishi extract has a 12:1 concentration ratio and contains at least 30% polysaccharides, meaning you can optimally benefit from Reishi's benefits with just a few drops a day.
