Eight years ago, Bram Bakker left the woman with whom he had lived for twenty years and with whom he has two wonderful children; he felt something was missing, but had no idea what. A turbulent period followed, during which he developed a serious neurological condition, left his beloved profession as a psychiatrist, and through his eldest son's addiction (and his recovery process), came to understand his own excessiveness.

Thanks to combining his own experience and professional knowledge in his weekly social media posts and in several very personal books, Bram shared his personal journey with many readers. Especially with his book Oud zeer (Old Pain), of which 30,000 copies have now been sold and a successful theatre performance under the same title has been staged, he reached an enormous number of people.

Gradually, it became increasingly clear to Bram that a lack of unconditional love drove him in his overly busy and difficult love life. And while he felt a desire for a stable, lasting romantic relationship, he was also very afraid of it, and every new relationship foundered on that. A lack of self-esteem and a deficit of self-love had everything to do with it, until one day, the penny dropped, and everything changed: 'you are good as you are, and also worthy of love.'

In this latest book from a long series, you will read everything about love and how you can get in your own way. You will get the theoretically substantiated explanation of what love could actually be and hear what personally helped Bram, but you will also read the stories of other people who were chasing love… which you ultimately must first and foremost find within yourself. Because if you seek success in love? Then first find sufficient self-love.
